Quality links to your site. Many press release directories allow anchor- text links (use your targeted keywords as anchor text links), which can help increase the authority of your blog. Just don't overdo it with links in your press release. Darren Rowse from Problogger.net recommends one link per 100 words.
Exposure from the media. Although you may think most people are found through social media efforts , traditional media platforms still rely on press releases for newsworthy events. The media still looks for attention getting stories. How to Improve Blog Traffic Tutorial: Keyword Researching
What are Keywords?
Keywords are words or phrases people search for on search engine sites (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing). These words or phrases (keywords) are what you need to know so you can create titles and links to target specific traffic to your blog. The more targeted your blog is to what people are searching for, the more likely you are to generate traffic.
Choose Targeted Keywords.
Choosing targeted keywords for your blog is very important. Many of my students/clients don't like the idea of identifying keywords. They say.. " It takes to much time" ; "There are too many words to choose from!" and they go on and on.
Well I don't have any easy answer to how to choose or select keywords for your blog, but I do highly recommend you locate at least 10 good keywords that describe your blog. The 10 keywords you choose will be used to describe your site, used as links to a page on your blog, used in your post titles and in the body of your post.
Below is a video that demonstrates how to select targeted keywords to improve blog traffic.
One of the most effective ways to improve traffic to your blog: is to distribute your content as a RSS feed. When you create a feed for your blog – a simple, one-time process anyone can do – you triple its effectiveness and desirability.
What's a RSS?
RSS (most commonly expanded as Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS
Ideally, you want people to depend on your regular posts as a useful and enjoyable part of their daily routine. One of the strongest tips I can give you: Think of them reading your posts when you write, like a newspaper sent to them digital to their email box.
Your reader wants...
Fast, easily read content that is punchy and to the point. You have only a few seconds to really capture his attention before he skips over you and moves on to the next item in his RSS feed reader. Think of this – and you’ll be less inclined to ramble, go off on tangents – or skip writing posts for days at a time altogether.
If you’ve forgotten how to create an RSS feed, or never bothered to learn – now is the time!
