It seems that nowadays you just can’t escape from Facebook, whether it is unwanted “friends” trying to reconnect with you, movies about the formation of the company or news reports regarding all manner of different controversies surrounding the social media giant. One thing regarding Facebook that should make business owners smile though is that Facebook can massively increase the profits of a website as part of an effective social media strategy.
When it comes to the benefits of social media marketing, then there really are only two companies that you should concentrate on – Twitter and, of course, Facebook. It is the latter of these though that still holds the most sway, even though Twitter is making massive strides in the field. So how exactly can you leverage Facebook to make your business more money than ever before?
The first, and largest, advantage of using Facebook is that it will provide you with a captive audience to advertise to for free once they have clicked the “Like” button for your page. Without the people there to advertise to though, this strategy would be useless, so how do you get people to like you? Well, the easiest way is to integrate a “Like” button on your own webpage, which visitors can click on to follow you. Providing your site is of a high standard and provides value to the visitor, they will want to be kept informed about future items for sale or promotions that are being run.
So, you have the followers now (although you should constantly keep trying to add to them) and now you need to make sure that you engage with them. When you only have a small amount of text to do this with then this can be tough, but it is by no means impossible. One thing that I have found is that when I actually take time to think about my posts, they convert much better. Many people simply think of their Facebook updates as a side though and write a couple of words in the hope that someone will notice. This is the wrong tactic; inspire people with your prose and make them think that they have to see the thing that you are making all of the fuss about! Making sales online is all about the way in which you can write, so if you neglect to concentrate on this then you are simply going to be dead in the water…
Although you are ultimately trying to sell to people through Facebook, you must never lose sight of the fact that it is a social platform and not a shop floor. People go on the site for human interaction – something that you can use to your advantage! Engage your followers and start conversations with them, polls for them to participate in and even competitions to win small prizes. People want to feel part of a community and when they do they will keep on coming back to your site and hopefully buying things occasionally!
Well, that’s that for the ways to make Facebook work for you. It will never replace some of the larger strategies that you have in place, but what it will do is give you that extra 10% to overcome your less socially aware competition. Keep it steady, keep it friendly and think about your posts and you should start seeing some profits from Facebook sooner than you might think!

A Facebook fan page is more than just another way to connect with prospects and customers online. Your Facebook fan page can:
Drive more traffic to your website
Build your email list
Sell more products/services
Announce special offers and promotions
Announce events
Share news
Provide value to your prospects and customers
Share photos and videos
Get feedback from clients and prospects
Improve your relationships with your prospects and customers
Improve Search Engine Optimization
Additionally:
Facebook fan pages are public
You can communicate directly with your “fans”.
When a person joins your fan page, it’s published in their News feed – this gives a viral quality to your fan page.
You have access to more than 500 million active users who log onto Facebook regularly and spend an average of 55 minutes per day on the site.
Facebook is now the 2nd most visited site in the world after Google
And Facebook fan pages are free!
Plain and simple, Facebook offers a huge potential to profit and grow your business.
But you already knew that, Right? If not, in this article - I will share with you the 5 steps required to create and profit from a Facebook Fan Page.
Step #1 Define Your Facebook Page’s Goals and Purpose
It’s a simple question. “What do you want to accomplish with your Facebook page?”
Ultimately you likely want to use your Facebook page to make more money and grow your business. But there are many ways to accomplish that and may directions to take. Perhaps a better question is, “How do you want to use your Facebook page to grow your business?”
As mentioned before there are several things your Facebook fan page can accomplish. They include but are not limited to:
Traffic generation
List building
Selling products/services
Announcements and promotions
Content and value
Building a community/strengthening relationship
But before you move onto the next step, spend some time brainstorming what you want to accomplish with your Facebook fan page.
Step #2 Identify and Research Your Audience
Before you create your page you want to make sure your audience is represented on Facebook. You want to make sure you’re planning and creating a page that will generate the traffic you desire. Often the best way to see if your audience is well represented on Facebook is to log on and start browsing. Search for friends by interest. Look at other pages that are relevant to your industry.
Take a few minutes to jot down who your audience is for your fan page. Then spend some time on Facebook making sure that they’re present and that your efforts will be profitable.
Experts strongly recommend using your name, not the name of your business. This is because people are looking to connect with other people on Facebook, not companies.
Once you have created your Facebook fan page, you will need to add photos and information in order to make it a page that Facebook users will want to visit again and again.
Again, use your own photo rather than a logo or business graphic.
Step #5 Maintain Your Facebook Page – A Long Term Plan for Profit
Your work isn’t done once you’ve launched your page. You will have three primary functions to make your Facebook page a profitable success.
Network and Connect
Promote your Facebook page on your email signature, on your homepage, and in other social networks that you’re a part of. Integrate your fan page into your existing marketing tactics and strategy.
Consistently Add Value and Content
Consistently add fresh and valuable content. Post links, create discussions, publish pictures and content. Post surveys and have fun with applications.
Study Your Results
Finally, it’s important to stay on top of your page to ensure it is meeting your goals. Facebook provides a wealth of information to help you stay informed. You can analyze:
The number of interactions you have had with fans each day or week.
The number of comments you had on your posts.
The demographics of your fans
Now You Know, Now You Can Do Better
Facebook fan pages are an exceptional tool to achieve a number of business building goals. Whether you’re driving traffic to your website, building your lead list or actually selling products or services on your page, the end result is a boost in profits.
Create your goals, research your audience, plan and create your page to support your goals. Once your page has been published, create a long-term plan to maintain it by consistently adding valuable content, networking with users and fans and tracking results. Profits will naturally result from your dedicated efforts.

Building social media profile on Facebook or any other social media site is a great way to brand yourself, tell more people about what you do and how it can help them. It also will help you build credibility as a solution-provider, a business owner, an entrepreneur or coach.
What most creative entrepreneurs don’t realize is that it’s just as important to build your online profile on social media sites as it is to build the profile on your blog or website.
Why?, You Ask.
Because the people who find you on online need to know that you’re the real deal and that the information you have can be trusted and is true.
What this means is that your social media profile is a commercial for the people who are looking for you online. The more consistent your social media profile is – and the more places it is seen – the more likely others will believe those messages.
This is where I started... I do a quick search for my name in Google to see what sites show up. When I search for “alease michelle” in Google, here are the top 5 websites that came up as of this writing:
aleasemichelle.typepad.com/studio_2229/ — my art studio blog
aleasemichelle.com — my personal website
Once I know what web pages show up, I can start tweaking my message on each of those pages.
Here are 6 Strategies to Pimp Your Social Media Profile:
1. Revise Those Profiles with current information about you and your business
2. Focus on the top 5 sites that appear in Google.
3. Tell people what you can help them with.
4. Be Consistent on all profiles. Make sure to say the same thing on every profile you've created.
5. Create a call to action to get people to visit your site.
6. Have others say good things about you. Ask friends or clients to leave positive comments on your profile. Naturally if you are doing what you say you are doing- this should come easy.
Alright there's 6 ways to Pimp your social media profile. Leave a comment below with others ways you have PIMPed a social media profile.
