Facebook is like a book store. Everyone is there for his or her own reasons, but it is a great place to strike up a conversation. Everybody from all walks of like use Facebook. They aren't there to buy stuff, they are there to connect- to build relationships. Research shows.. that Facebook is primarily used to show ones identify- by the friends to make, the groups they join and the pages they like- are all offshoots of person's identity.
That is why - Facebook is not the place to sell products or services - it is a place to attract consumers and build relationships over time. The main goal of doing business on Facebook is to attract people to your website, build trust, and gain visibility - which will soon lead to sales.
How to Use Facebook...
Facebook serves a certain function, and each with a unique purpose and reason. there are 4 main parts to Facebook:
Profiles - a way for people to present themselves. Profiles are primary used to share the personal side of the user. They can not be share on other social media sites, and they can not be used for business.
Groups- these are communities developed around a specific topic of interest. It's a great way to collect people with similar interest or problems, which you can solve. Groups can be used like online forums.
Pages "Fan Pages" - essentially used for any thing or person who wants a fan base. Fan Pages are customizable and you can have an unlimited number of fans. Even better, Facebook Fan Pages are indexed by Google.
Events - used to attract people to any live or virtual event. You can promote a local workshop, teleseminar, or webinar.
All of them can work separate and together to enhance your creative business. I am not going to say it easy to learn it all, it is work but work that's well worth it in the long run, when you are trying to connect with consumers.
