Reading
Picked up a very interesting books for the library last week, Yeah Dave's Guide to Livin' the Moment- this yoga instructor (David Romanelli) shares his Zen approach to happiness in this guide to the care and feeding of a live-the-moment . This book is a really good read if you want to laugh and just have a Yeah moment. I just finished reading Mind Your X's and Y's - this book is for those who want to know what the wired generations want to consume and experience. The author Lisa Johnson is the CEO of marketing consultancy at ReachWomen, the book provides examples of brands and action plans for attracting the 18- to 40-year-olds.Watching
After moving in together with my boyfriend, I have not had time to watch regular tv, but we have been watching a lot at movies at home. I've discover redbox $1 movie rental. It seems everything has increased in price, even renting movies. Redboxis an kiosk that is located in a grocery store or retail store and you just use your card to rent a movie. You are changed a $1 a day. This really works for a sista on a budget.Inspired by
Napoleon Hill author of Think and Grow Rich. I read this book some years ago, but lately I have been totally inspired to go through it again and do more research on the stories of Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires. I am so inspired to look for other ways to boost my income and Napoleon Hill's book is my jump start.
Listening to
My playlist includes 18 songs that fuel my creativity spirit. The songs are from my favorite soul artists. The sound is smooth and sexy. Just enough music to put me in the mood to create something.Listen for yourself.
Teaching
I am still teaching my students the art and craft of creating eye catching visual presentations. We have now moved on to creating print presentations. I first have to teach them Adobe InDesign. Many of them already know Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. So learning InDesign should be an easy learn. In the students other computer courses, they are taught from a book. In my lesson I want to teach them what they need to know and how to translate what they have learn to real world applications.
This curriculum development method is called The Tyler Model, named after Ralph W. Tyler. The Tyler Model is based on 3 sources: Students- analyzing data relevant to student needs and interest, Society- analysis of contemporary life in both the local & national communities and Subject Matter- instructional goals specific to the discipline.
Working On
At my place of work: I am still working on the blog for the Art Institute of Charlotte. I am using blogger.com to create this blog. And since I use typepad as my blogging platform, using blogger requires me to think a little more about what I can and can not do.
At the Art & Design Studio: Working on a website for a friend. I spent most of the week deciding on a domain name that was suitable for his art business. I am thinking of using Square Space as my hosting and web design service.
Wishing for
Ok I love the summer, but I love the Fall fashions more. I received the Fall Chadwicks catalog. And on page 4 was this really cute boyfriend cardigan with a print cami. It is so cute. It will look great with my new grey boots from Target.
Learning
I am still working on completing my doctorate degree from Argosy University. I decided to take the summer off to relax my mind and to prepare for my last year of study.
Praying for
I am praying to end this year on a good note. To maintain a budget and to bring more wealth into my home. Check out Keep Your Song by Joel Osteen it is very uplifting.
Peace & More Love, Alease
