Download Print Making Return to My First Love
In these last few months I've been looking for a new direction in my artwork, but still remain true to what I have started- using vintage photos in my work. In all of my studies of color and floras I've realized that I'm drawn to the process of printmaking.
Printmaking was a concentration of mine in college and I really enjoyed the process. There were areas of printmaking I didn't enjoy - using chemicals. But I really loved collagraph printing and monoprinting. And I am very interesting in learning screen printing ( was not able to take this course in college- it was only offered in the summer).
Yesterday I purchase art book - Image Transfers Workshop- Mixed Media Techniques for Successful Transfers by Darlen Olivia McElroy & Sandra Duran Wilson. In this book I showcased several ways to use imagery in a printmaking format. This book is a great resource and it has definitely inspired me to return to my first love - printmaking. I looked at a few of my collages and noticed that I've used a collagraph in one of my collages and actually used the collagraph plate as a final collage.

Actual collagraph plate. I added a vintage image to plate.
Well I am going to plan to get my Creative On! in a few days. Can not wait to share my experiences with you when I am done.
