Technology plays a major part in my life as a college instructor and artist. I relay heavily on technology to get me through the day. So I thought I would share with you guys how technology impacts me at work, on the go, and in my studio.
At Work
I work at the Art Institute of Charlotte and I teach alot of design related courses to fashion students. In those courses I teach from an iMac. I have grown to love them and enjoy the easy navigation it allows from one site to the next.
My Palm Centro phone is great! My students are allowed to send my text messages about classroom assignments. So it was very important that I had a phone that allow me to type smoothly and quickly. I love this phone 'cause it is small enough to fit into my coat pocket, and into my small purse. It also keeps me on schedule, I place my school, committee, and other appointment dates into my palm - to make sure I am always on time. And by the way it is super cute!
Today's college instructor use a projectorlike teachers did in the older days used black board. This gadget is a must for me. I use power point slides in many of my lectures, I also reference the web for resources. A projector is a must have in the classroom.
On the Go
The TOM TOM Navigation System has restore my sense of direction. I have to say - hands down is the best gadget ever made. I do not- I will say it again- I do not leave home without my TOM TOM. Since getting the TOM TOM I've had no fear of driving around an unknown city. - Ladies, you must add this to your Christmas list.
My MP3 player makes working out alot easier. I walk 4 to 6 miles , 2 to 3 times a week. And since I need something to occupy my mind when I walking I use my MP3 player to take me into a musical world. What's playing on my player- a little bit of everything - LL Cool J, Kanya West, Robin Thick, Jill Scott and others.
In the Studio
As I complete a collage, I try to take photos of my work to use later on my blog post. My Kodak Share Digital Ccamera helps me achieve this goal. I've gotten better at taken pictures, but of course I need more training.
Oh - my Gosh. This is one gadget I could not live without - my HP laptop. It has been very important to my artist career. I have used my laptop to design promotional pieces for my studio, check emails from gallery owners and my favorite- blogging.
That's all Folks! My love for gadgets.
