You've Come A Long Way Baby

Today a co-worker gave me an Art with Heart donation form. I really do not think this particular co-worker would have given me this form, if not for another co-worker/mentor. As I was reading the form I was also thinking about my journey as an artist. In the past year and 10 months I have created an average amount of artwork, while thinking about my future as an artist. But what made me smile and say thank you God for my talents, are the thank yous I get from those who have brought my artwork and have proudly displayed them in their offices and homes.   Just recently the owner of “Southern Gothic Negroes” and “Adam & Eve” suggested to his company curator to showcase my work in their gallery. And as of two weeks ago, I can say, Alease Michelle’s artwork will be shown, May 2008 in WSOC- Channel 9‘s gallery.

A couple of months ago I submitted my digital scrapbook layouts to an online scrapbooking store.   Weeks later I recieved an email from Bevin Dunn- Owner of digitalginger.com . She inform me that I was part of the team. So, as of today I am part of digitalGinger's creative team. Check out the website (digitalGinger.com) opening date is October 8th.

Alease McClenningham - Rock Hill, South Carolina

Background:

I have a B.A. in Graphic Design from the University of South Carolina and an M.A. in visual arts from Goddard College. I am currently working on Ed.D. and am a full-time faculty member at the Art Institute of Charlotte in the Fashion Marketing and Management program.

Scrapping Style and Subjects:
At a very early age, I would sit down at the kitchen table with my dad and put together the family scrapbook. He and I would cut out words from magazines. We would would use decorative wall paper.I would consider myself a collage architect. I love the process of preserving special moments and my collage work displays this passion. I have always been wildly drawn to the process of creating beautiful things from found objects, and I see inspiration all around.
