My plans for new year is to redesign my studio into a highly functional working artist's studio. In the past, I have redesigned my studio two to three times. I am an artist who likes to work in a neat and organize space. It is sort of funny, a collage artist who thinks only in an organized space.
The process has been mind crazy. And it is only because I am cheap! I should not have to pay a lot of money to have a functional space to work.
Currently my studio is workable, but the walls are dark and the lighting is awful! My collage supplies are all over the place, not easy accessible from my work table. My computer is in the guest room. (A couple of months ago I thought placing my computer in the guest room would allow me to work thru-out my entire home.) Well, I have changed my mind again, and realize I need my computer in my studio with me.
There are other areas in my studio I would like to redesign, such as the closet. It is a long closet with lots of room in the back of the closet, but it is really hard for me to get back there. So, my thought is to redesign it to make it functional for all of my art supplies.
From the pictures, you can see my attempt of organizing my work area and to some you might think it is neat, but for a person who likes to have a place for everything, it is a mad house to me. And now that I am cleaning it out to make room for my REDESIGN, it is even more messy and confusing for me.
I plan to keep you update on my experience with redesigning my art studio. I hope to offer helpful hints to other artists who are wishing to redesign their studios.
